*Tax credit eligibility is an estimation only and is subject to change. If your subsidy appears as $0, this means that although your income qualifies you for a subsidy, there is an available Silver plan for purchase at a premium below what the Government defines as the maximum you can spend on health coverage; therefore, no subsidy is required. You must visit the NY State of Health for the most up-to-date calculation of your eligibility.
**FPL levels are based on the household size and household income, most often found on the annual tax return.

Our subsidy calculator is designed to estimate federal premium assistance that may be available towards the cost of health insurance purchased directly by an individual (rather than through an employer). Using information you provide and the averages in the marketplace, it takes into account federal subsidies based on income, Medicaid eligibility, and other factors that impact premiums under the Affordable Care Act. This is only an estimate and not a guarantee. You must visit the NY State of Health for the most up-to-date calculation of your eligibility.

What is financial assistance under the new health care law?
If you don’t have health insurance through your employer, you can start shopping for a plan through the NY State of Health beginning October 1, 2013. You may be eligible for financial assistance to help you pay for a plan through a tax credit. Eligibility is based on your household income and size.
Why am I asked for my household size and income?
Your household size and income are used to determine your federal tax credit eligibility.
Why am I asked for my zip code?
The health care reform law permits premiums to vary by geographic area, reflecting the fact that the cost of living and health care expenses vary significantly from region to region and community to community.
How does the tax credit get applied to the monthly premium?
The NY State of Health will determine if you are eligible for a tax credit based on your household income and size. If you’re eligible and enroll in a plan, the tax credit will be paid directly to the insurance company which will reduce your monthly premium amount.
Your age can determine your plan eligibility. For instance, individuals who are over 65 will be given information on Medicare.
