Home Delivery Pharmacy Service Equals Savings and Convenience

What could be better than having your medicine delivered to your doorstep? What if this added convenience even saved you or your clients' money?

Mail order pharmacy services can lead to added convenience and savings for many members who take advantage of our partnership with PrimeMail®, a full-service, fully US-based pharmacy with licensed, US-based pharmacists. A leading provider of mail order services, PrimeMail fills close to six million prescriptions per year. Each prescription is managed under strict quality controls.

Possible Savings

When adding a home delivery pharmacy program, plan sponsors benefit from deeper discounts through bulk purchasing and no dispensing fees. This translates to lower pharmacy costs for both plan sponsors and members.

Many plan designs allow subscribers and their dependents to purchase a three-month supply of maintenance medications – medications taken regularly for chronic conditions – for just 2 or 2 ½ copays. For members with deductible health plans, savings are realized as members benefit from lower negotiated rates than are available at retail pharmacies.

Simple Convenience for Members

Convenience is a major benefit of using mail order pharmacy, especially with delivery available to the address of the member’s choice – medications are shipped safely, discreetly, and on time. Standard shipping is free.

Switching a prescription from retail to mail order is simple.  Members need to ask their providers for a new prescription to be sent to PrimeMail. Doctors can use e-prescribing technology to make it easier to provide a new script.  PrimeMail will also contact provider offices for members for added convenience.

Members can track the status of a prescription at MyPrimeMail.com. The ease of reordering by mail, phone, or online makes it simple avoid running out of prescriptions. Refill reminders by phone or email also remind members of the need to refill a prescription.

Improved Medication Adherence

A recent Prime study demonstrates an increase in adherence to key medications when received through a 90 day supply such as PrimeMail. The result: seven to 10 percent higher adherence rates compared to 30 day supplies.* Improved adherence has the potential to save lives and and reduce medical costs.

Drugs treating conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and respiratory diseases can total 40 percent of drug spend.  For these critical maintenance drugs, PrimeMail is the smart choice to help lower drug costs and improve long-term member health through greater adherence.
