Small Group Packages Retiring in 2017

The information below summarizes the SimplyBlue Plus packages that will be retiring for 2017.

Retired packages are those packages that are no longer offered. When we retire packages, we recommend a replacement package that most closely matches the benefits of the retired package.

We retire packages in order to:

  • Simplify our offerings - Low enrollment packages will retire.
  • Maintain a diverse set of offerings – To keep plans compliant with 2017 Health Care Reform rules benefit changes were required on some packages.  The required benefit changes made the packages very similar to another existing package therefore to keep the portfolio diverse those similar plans will retire.

These packages are retiring effective December 31, 2016.

Notices for retiring packages will be mailed 90 days in advance of your 2017 renewal date; these will also include notices for you to distribute to employees.  A copy of the group discontinuance notice will be available on Information Connection at that time.

Groups enrolled in a retiring package will be automatically transitioned to the replacement package on their renewal date and no action is necessary.  If you would like to elect another package, you should work with your broker or dedicated Account Manager.

Blue On Demand will be updated in September for package comparisons.

We will also be retiring packages from being sold on the NY State of Health Marketplace (On Exchange). 

These packages will no longer be sold on the NY State of Health Marketplace for 2017.
