Special Enrollment Opportunity for January 1, 2014
Due to health care reform, there will be a special enrollment opportunity for employees who previously opted out of their employer's group coverage.
Employees who previously opted out of their employer’s group coverage, will be allowed to enroll in their employer group's plan effective January 1, 2014, regardless of the group's current renewal date.
Please note that employees must have satisfied the group's employee-imposed waiting period. For example, if an employee is hired December 15, 2013, and the group has an employer-imposed waiting period that specifies eligibility on the first day of the month after a 30-day wait, the employee will be eligible for enrollment on February 1, 2014.
A paper application must be submitted to take advantage of this opportunity.
