Changes to Subscriber Retroactivity Cancellation Policy
We want to make you aware of recent changes in our subscriber retroactivity cancellation policy. Requests for subscriber retroactive cancellations are now handled as follows:
This includes any business that would result in a Member Certificate of Insurance being issued. Community rated, prospective experience rated, retrospective experience rated, contingent premium experience rated, minimum premium experience rated, and premium credit experience rated are all included in this category.
- Subscriber retroactive cancellation requests will be processed up to 30 days retroactive to the previous month’s bill date.
Self Insured Business:
- Subscriber retroactive cancellation requests will be processed up to 120 days retroactive from the date received.
- If group specific guidelines on retroactivity have been provided to the health plan, the request will be handled in accordance with that direction.
We will assume that any retroactive cancellation requests sent to us are compliant with the rescission limitations found in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). View or print more details on how PPACA relates to recissions.
