Generic Trial Program
Generic Trial Program

To encourage the use of generic drugs, our Generic Trial program provides a trial of selected generic medications at no cost to our members. The first time a member fills a prescription for one of the generic medications included in the trial program, the first month's copayment will automatically be waived. The program offers an alternative to the heavily marketed, branded samples from pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The Generic Trial program helps members save hundreds of dollars per year in out-of-pocket prescription costs when they continue with a generic medication.

Experience has shown that more than 90% of all members who start on a generic medication will stay with it - and on average, generics are one-quarter of the price of the brand alternatives.

Follow this link for a list of medications (PDF) included in the Generic Trial program.

How Does the Program Work?

  • The first time a member fills a prescription for a generic medication included in the program at a participating FLRx network pharmacy, the member's copayment / coinsurance for the first 30-day supply will be waived.
  • The cost of all refills and future prescriptions for the medication is the member's responsibility and will be at the usual generic copayment/coinsurance amount.
  • Members are permitted only one free 30-day trial per medication within the program.
  • Members may receive a free 30-day trial for more than one medication within the program.
